U.S. President Donald Trump earlier today announced he has sacked Rex Tillerson, U.S. Secretary of State.
President Trump announced the sack in a series of tweets where he also stated the reason why Tillerson was sacked.
“I just fired Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. Yesterday Rex said something mean about Putin,” President Trump wrote.
As President Trump announced Tillerson’s replacement in another tweet, he noted his distaste for any attack on Russia and its President.
“I’ve warned every American that under no circumstances was anyone allowed to criticize Putin or Russia (even if they committed acts of war against us). Mike Pompeo will replace Rex,” Trump tweeted
Tillerson was in Nigeria on Monday when he met with President Muhammadu Buhari and discussed the abduction of 110 Dapchi schoolgirls, their rescue, amongst other things.
