Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is not sure Mohamed Salah will return to fitness in time to face Manchester City on Tuesday in the return leg of their Champions League quarterfinal clash.
The German tactician, however, said he will assess Salah in this evening’s training session before making a decision on whether he will be fit to face the Citizens tomorrow night.
Salah was crucial in the 3 – 0 first leg win over City, scoring the opening goal that set the hosts on their way to a famous win.
His pace will be vital to stretch a City defence who have struggled in recent weeks, following up conceding three goals at Anfield, with a shambolic second half performance against city rivals Manchester United which saw them go from 2 – 0 up, to 3 – 2 down.
These two games have shown that the seemingly invincible City can be got at if they are attacked in the correct way.
Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane did exactly that in the first leg which gave the Reds impetus and attacking threat throughout the 90 minutes.
The Egyptian winger was forced to go off just after half-time in that first leg and he missed Liverpool’s goalless Merseyside derby at the weekend as Klopp rested several key players.
