Two Super Eagles stars – Alex Iwobi and Ahmed Musa – were in action on Thursday night when Arsenal played host to CSKA Moscow in the first leg of the Europa League Quarter final at the Emirate Stadium.
Iwobi came on as a substitute for the injured Henrick Mkhitaryan while Musa started for the visiting Russian side as Arsenal took a big step towards reaching the Europa League semi-finals with a 4 – 1 rout.
Musa who was taken off in the second half proved a handful for the well-organised Arsenal defence, but for poor finishing and decision in the final third, he couldn’t score or create a goal for his team. His best chance came in the first half when he took out three Arsenal defenders to send himself clear on goal, but he could only find the side net with Petr Cech rushing out of his goalline.
Iwobi on the other hand could have scored but elected to pass the ball to an offside teammate when he was one-on-one with the goalkeeper. His passing, however, was crisp and he showed his dribbling skilled a couple of times.
