Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo, on Tuesday night, again showed why he’s the leading goalscorer in the Champions League as he scored two and assisted one in his team’s 0 – 3 away victory over Italian powerhouse, Juventus.
The goals means Ronaldo broke more Champions League records even as his team is now more certain of progressing to the next round following their scintillating display in the first leg of their quarter-final clash at one of the most difficult ground in Europe.
While Ronaldo netted twice, he assisted Marcelo for the his team’s third and now Zinedine Zidane’s side take a three-goal advantage to back to Madrid for the second leg in a week’s time.
Below we take a look at some of the key stats to come out of the game between Madrid and Juventus.
– By scoring against Juventus, Ronaldo became the first player to score in 10 successive Champions League appearances. The forward also became the first player to score in the first nine matches of a Champions League campaign.
– Ronaldo scored his ninth Champions League goal against Juventus, equaling the record for most goals by a player against a specific opponent in the competition. Ronaldo himself (9 against Bayern Munich) and Lionel Messi (9 versus Arsenal) have also reached that figure against a specific team.
